Mary Ann Panke

Mary Ann Panke, Fused Glass, Park Falls, Wisconsin

Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have worked in many different mediums through the years, from sewing, dried flowers, basket making, and stained glass to my current passion, fused glass—all with an eye to the natural world.

Fused glass is a type of art glass created by arranging pieces of glass together and then melting and joining them through high-temperature firing in a kiln. The most exciting part of the whole process is opening the kiln to see how the pieces fuse together as one.

My designs are largely inspired by nature, with trees, mountains, dragonflies, butterflies, moon phases, stars, and more. I also enjoy creating abstract designs that show off the color and beauty of the glass itself. I love Bayfield and am excited to show and share my art glass at the Bayfield Artists' Guild.
